Happy birthday.

Yippie, 31 years old… Whoop dee doo. Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday (because Myspace or Facebook told them it was my birthday). I didn’t get anything from Marlboro this year, last year I got a cool credit card sized bottle opener that I still carry around with me. I don’t know why, I don’t ever use it. I didn’t do anything today, I pretty much just slept all day. I’m sunburned and sore and didn’t feel like running or getting up. I need a new energetic dog because my old one I’ve got now is perfectly content to sleep by me as long as I am in bed instead of sitting on my chest and breathing on me from 1 inch away until I get up.

I’m ass deep into my newest project which is converting a 2 foot tall stack of papers, bills, paystubs and other miscellaneous stuff from the last 10 years into pdf files that are sorted and saved onto a single rewritable CD. I’m up to 536 individual pdf files so far and have a long way to go. Oh well what else do I have going that’s better than that other than my raucous social life and fending off the bitches with a stick?

Back to school sale!

Well… theres no sale really. But I am going back to school. Damn… Going to finish up my bachelors with Nebraska’s very own Peru State. I guess they have transformed themselves from a small state school that was having trouble staying open to a thriving state school where almost half their students take classes strictly online in just a couple years. I signed up for a couple classes in the Fall. Good old Organizational Behavior and Employee Training and Development. Shoot me now. Oh well at least it won’t be money out of my pocket. Well it will be at first but I will be reimbursed. My work will pay all the tuition as long as I don’t go overboard with the number of classes (which I won’t because I hate school and I don’t want to go full time anymore), I can most likely buy most of the books online used from amazon and then sell them back to the bookstore for more than I paid for them as long as they are using them again. And when they aren’t I still have about a month and a half of GI-Bill money left so that should cover the excess if I spend it wisely. At least I won’t have to spend my own free time doing homework and studying, I can do it all at work instead of staring at the wall. I can’t wait to show off my Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Administration – Management degree (in 3 or 4 years of part time study). Maybe I can get a job pumping gas with it!

I’m losing my motivation to run without a big goal to work towards. I’m doing the Duncan Ironman right now and the biking part is going ok, I rode to work all last week and did about 60 miles there but I only ran 4. I took advantage of the rule that you could walk it as well as run and took the dog on a 4 mile walk yesterday and counted that as well. That makes 18.2 miles left to go. I’ll do a long run tomorrow and then go for a swim and lay by the pool since the complex pool is open, yay! I need some sun, I don’t get enough working nights.

Happy 19th birthday to my brother Adam today! Saturday is a good day to have it. Mine is in 3 days… on a Tuesday. 31 years old. I still haven’t gotten my birthday gift from Marlboro, I hope they haven’t forgotten me because they are the only ones who usually get me anything. Someone probably told them I quit smoking.

Where are my Bush Bucks?

According to the schedule I was supposed to be getting my $600 from the government Friday. I filed my taxes months ago and had them take out the money I owed through direct debit. Gimme my damn money! I’ve got to do my part in jump starting the economy by investing in foreign stocks. I filled out the little thing on the IRS website to check on it and they have no information which means it isn’t scheduled to be sent in the next week. From what I was reading the schedule says I would have had it if I had direct deposit for my refund. I didn’t have a refund, I had to pay in but I still did it directly. Isn’t that the same damn thing? I submitted my taxes electronically as well but told them to wait until April 15th to take their damn money so I wonder if that’s when they considered that I filed. If that’s the case then they say that will delay it is well. Give me my money dubeya!

Dave came down from St. Louis for the weekend for Kasey and Shannon’s reception. Of course we all got really drunk. Painfully drunk. Basically the kind of drunk that I don’t do anymore because I’m tired of not getting anything done over the whole weekend because I’m so hung over and sick. Yesterday was almost completely wasted laying in bed trying to recover before going out again. Dave was able to rally but I had trouble with my stomach doing flipflops and hardly being able to hold anything down. Of course I was meeting up with a girl that night in that condition so I’m sure it was just a super first impression. I was hoping for charming funny Steve, but instead was sick, feeling like shit, wanting to be sleeping and not out Steve. I’m still not fully recovered and it’s Sunday afternoon.

How come I don’t really know anyone doing any marathon or long running kind of stuff until I do my half. What I’m getting at is I’m all proud of my half finish and tell Dave about it and he goes, “Thats awesome! I’m training for a 100 mile ultramarathon right now, my long runs on Sundays are 40 miles.” Well doesn’t that make my little half marathon not as impressive doesn’t it? I guess he’s going to do one in Kansas this October to try and qualify for the Western States Endurance Run which is the premier ultra in the country. I’m going to go down to the one in Kansas and cheer him on and be his pit crew or whatever. I’m liking getting back in shape and all but I don’t know that I could get into it enough to want to go for 20-30 hours straight. Dave does have that over the top personality to do shit like that though. You can really tell he’s been running a lot. He’s lost a ton of weight from the last time I saw him in 01. He’s all slim and sinewy now. He used to be pretty stocky. I’m back to running again tomorrow for the Duncan Ironman after taking a week off.

Happy mothers day to my mom! I hope shes relaxing and not at work. But knowing how crappy her job has been lately she’s working a 16 hour day today.
