Something to think about.

Today I got an email from my uncle in Columbus.

Subject: Had a bad day, feeling sorry for yourself?

One of life’s little lessons…..

Leon Spinks, former heavyweight champion of the world.
Beat Mohamid Ali, greatest fighter there ever was, cleared
my trash at McDonalds this morning…

On the surface you might say wow, at least I don’t have it as bad as Leon. But in reality does Leon really have it that bad? I’ve never talked to the guy but from what I hear from people who have he is pretty messed up from his years as a boxer. He easily could be living off the government or mooching off of other people instead of working for a living but you know what? He’s not. He makes his living as a janitor working for the YMCA and McDonald’s in Columbus, Nebraska of all places. He has a girl that he loves and volunteers with children and doesn’t ask for help from anyone. He admits that his life could have turned out better but is content with the way it is now and doesn’t bitch about it or blame anyone but himself for how it turned out. In the end if you feel that way is that such terrible way to live your life?

Here’s a link to an article about him.

I’m alive.

Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted anything on here.  I guess I just really didn’t feel like it.  I’m back at work again after 5 days off.  Now I have to work a while before I get another day off but oh well.  Gotta help Hoop out by trading a bunch of days so he can go to his brother’s wedding this weekend.  I’ve been riding the hell out of my bike lately but not in the last couple of days because I got a slow leak in the rear tire.  That’s what really pisses me off about bikes, you always get a flat tire when you want to ride.  I could mess around with it and keep patching them as they go flat but I’m not going to fuck around with it.  I ordered some solid tubes that I’m going to put in there.  They weigh a little more and they aren’t as good as having real tubes, but you can put an ice pick through them and they won’t ever go flat and that’s all I care about.  I got sunburned pretty good going out riding and geocaching with Kasey for something to do around the ballpark and stadium area on Monday.  We went 10 for 10 in finding them on that day.

Let’s see, what else is going on…  Not really that much that I really care to talk about to tell you the truth.  I am making efforts on getting my shit together but I don’t really want to get into it right now.  Hell gotta have something to talk about on here rather than writing a 2000 word essay every month and a half.  Will try to keep this updated with shorter posts more often.  Will also attempt to get a more interesting life to write about.

Uhh, hi.

Well it’s about 12:30 in the morning and I’m at work. Notice I didn’t say I was working, just at work. I’ve got the front desk this week which isn’t bad but it kind of sucks because you can’t really get up and move around much. God forbid some mechanic’s wife is unable to get through and get her husband paged for the 10th time.

I’m pretty sore because I bought a bike last night and was riding it around today. I am horribly out of shape. I was thinking about driving it to work when it warms up but it looks like a real bitch just to find a route to get there from my house because of the way the interstate runs. Maybe the route won’t seem so bad when I am in a little better shape, but today when I was scouting it out it sucked.

Found out the other day that Joanie got 3 years probation for her little meth fiasco. Seems like a pretty weak sentence to me. This is why I’m in favor of building more prisons. Take the money spent on the roads and build prisons. Then have the prisoners work on the roads during the day. Then maybe I wouldn’t have to wait 2 years for a 2 mile stretch of interstate between my house and work to get done only to be all bumpy and potholed and worse than before 6 months later.
