Damn ants.

I’ve got stupid ants in my apartment.  It’s been a battle for a couple weeks now.  When I first saw them they were in my bedroom treking around and found an empty pop bottle in the trash.  Took care of them and then 3 days later there was a trail running along the kitchen floor to under the stove.  They managed to find a little square of dried up cheese (I assume from when I made an omlette).  Killed them and then they found the dog food.  Dammit.  Killed those ones and moved the dog food.  They found where I moved the dog food tonight.  Eliminated the automatic dog food feeder completely now.  I’ll just give him a single serving.  The damn things are inside the walls.  Stupid “garden level” apartment.  There isn’t a trail from outside or anything.  Just a trail to the carpet trim which they go under and to holes in the moldings.  What a shithole complex this is.  I went down and got this gel crap for them to take back to the queen and put it in all the places Ive seen them.  Nothing in all of the places but one.  Gotcha.  Took a look and there was 2.  Looked later and it was about 20.  Now its too many to count and they are feasting it up coming out of the moldings.  I almost wish it was something bigger so the dog would kill them.  He’s a great bug hunter but he can’t really see ants and they don’t run away so they are no fun to him.  In Charleston there are roaches in every single building there.  They don’t call them roaches there though.  They call them “palmetto bugs”.  My ass, I know a roach when I see one.  Anyway the dog made quick work of them.  I think I was the only one that wasn’t infested out of all the people that I knew who lived in base housing.

I volunteered to work the Special Olympics in Des Moines on July 1st.  About 400 Cessna Citations volunteering to bring the athletes from all over the country to the games.  I can’t say I really care about the cause or anything.  Just a chance to do something different.  All I am going to be doing is towing the planes out of the way so the next plane can come unload.  No marshalling or fueling or anything.  It will be busy though.  During the peak a plane will hit the ground every 60 to 90 seconds with an overall average of 1 every 2 minutes and 15 seconds over a 15 hour period.   Hopefully they will fly us up there in the Bonanza or something.  Ben is trying to work that by volunteering to fly it.  I doubt it though.  A more likely senario is a driving up there.  I’m off to bed, I’m tired.

Neo and dog piss.

Just a short note today. Was in the convience store and this douche walked in dressed just like Neo in the Matrix movies. Trenchcoat and the glasses and everything. It was like 80 degrees out too. I almost started laughing out loud and pointing. What the hell man?

Also stopped by the pet store and got a blacklight (for locating piss) and the enzyme shit that gets rid of it. The girl at the pet store said using that thing will make you paranoid because of all the stuff you see. Yep she was right. 6 years of having a dog that has never been consistently able to hold his water leaves some spots on the sides of the furniture. Steam cleaned those and located the stink that I was smelling but couldn’t find and steam cleaned that too. Sometimes I want to choke that dog. Wish I owned a house with a fenced in yard. I would just put in a dog door and he would go in and out on his own when he needed to go.

I suppose I should write something.

Well it’s been a little while since I wrote something on here so I guess I should to keep my many fans happy. I am feeling so swamped right now. I thought that just having 2 classes that add up to full time with the labs would be a little easier than taking 3 classes but it isn’t. I like the astronomy class for the most part but I sure didn’t know there was so much complicated math in it. Here’s a question from my homework:

In the laboratory, a certain spectral line of hydrogen has a wavelength of 590 nm. If the line appears in a comet’s spectrum at 590.8 nm, what is the comet’s radial velocity?

What?

Do you know what the hell that means? I don’t really know either. Just so you know the answer is 406.780 km/s. I still have an A in that class… barely. I have a 90.2% in there right now. As for the Microbiology class. Well. I think I am actually failing that class as of right now. I wish I would have taken the normal biology class. Can you name some differences between a fish and a cow? Sure I can name a bunch of them, but can you tell me some differences between a Ankistrodesmus and a Gomphosphaeria? Yea I can’t either and I have the book to look at. As of this week I am taking a different approach. Before I was furiously taking notes in class and trying to study and retain the information but after looking at it for a couple hours I couldn’t recall a thing. Since she gives study sheets that cover what’s going to be on the quizzes and tests in a really general way I have changed to not paying attention at all in the pointless Powerpoint presentations and just studying the hell out of whatever I can get out of the study sheet. I have a quiz tomorrow so I will see how well this approach works. At this point I have given up on getting anything out of this class and my only goal is to pass so the government doesn’t take their money back.

Went to Columbus on Easter. My mom was working so we really didn’t have a long time to do anything since we only had her lunch break. Went to New World Inn and had an ok dinner I suppose. Ate and talked a little bit and took mom back to work. Dad then decided to drive around Columbus for an hour looking at things that used to be but aren’t anymore. After that I came back home to study and get some things done since Sunday is my only day that I am not booked up the entire day. $35 in gas for 3 hours of driving and 2 hours with the family. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside doesn’t it?

Kasey called me last Friday wanting me go go in on some land with him west of town by Pawnee Lake. To make a long story short I really want nothing to do with owning a corn field. A better idea though is going in half and half on a duplex. Found a good possibility. 2400 total square feet with 2 apartments for $85,500. One 3 bedroom and one 2 bedroom. Renting it out would cover the mortgage but I was thinking I would live in one and he could live in another, spend a year or 2 slowly fixing it up and making it nice while living relatively cheap and not dealing with tenants and then sell it. Maybe not sell it at all and just rent it. Who knows? I need to try something, do I really want to be pumping gas for another 40 years? No not especially. That’s all for today, need to get to bed.
